Chronic Pain, Gone in Under 3 Minutes. How?

Chronic Pain, Gone in Under 3 Minutes. How?

Just last Saturday I saw a client in her mid 50’s who was suffering from chronic neuropathic pain. Neuropathic pain is a complex, chronic pain state that is usually accompanied by tissue injury. She rigidly shuffled in to my office with the hope of experiencing some relief and to address the weight gain she was experiencing as a result of her medication. My heart ached for her as I could see the pain and exhaustion in her eyes and the way she cautiously moved her overly sensitive body. She told me she decided not to take her medication on this day in case it affected the Hypnosis experience she booked in for. She was also concerned about her inability to relax and sited several situations whereby therapists had told her she just couldn’t relax and that it made it difficult for them to work with her. As she settled in to the comfortable leather chair in my office, supported by a pillow behind her back, I asked her what her pain levels were on a scale from 0-10. Usually they were between a 5 and 8 (even with medication). After settling in a little more she said they were a 5. With her permission I immediately implemented EFT to see if we could reduce her pain levels at all. With one round, literally minutes, her pain level had reduced to an astounding 0 (zero). She described the sensation as being ‘waves of energy’ moving through her body along with a calmness and relaxation she had not felt in years. She said she had never experienced this level of relief even when on medication. From there she very easily and rapidly relaxed in to hypnosis, whereby I could work with her subconscious mind in a more receptive state.

This lovely lady left my office a different woman. She was amazed and at times speechless by the shift in her physical and emotional experience. She was moving with ease and, albeit with a little anticipatory nervousness – understandably. Her eyes were bright and shining and her kind, open face looked 10 years younger. I was on cloud 9 too as there is nothing more rewarding than easing the suffering of a fellow sentient being.

I have been thinking of her ever since, mostly wondering whether her comfort and relief had continued. My curiosity and concern got the better of me and I emailed her this morning. Here is her response:

“Rayeleen, words cannot express how I feel at the moment. I still get the niggle of pain every now and then but not as much as what I have been living with for the last 4 years. My breathing has become more relaxed and I can now speak a sentence without running out of breath. My hunger has tamed down as I’m not feeling hungry as much. I have more energy, for example I washed all the outside doors in my kitchen,(haven’t been able to do this in 5 yrs) can vacuum the house in one go instead of stopping a few times to get the energy up to finish it off…Thanks so much.” (I have left her full name and some details out for privacy)

So why am I sharing this with you? Because of how easy it is to become desensitised to these amazing, simple, but profound practices and modalities that regularly produce extraordinary results, all the while strengthening the body, mind and spirit. There are no adverse side effects whatsoever. I do not believe there is a ‘one size fits all’ by any means. There are so many modalities available to us these days that it can often become very confusing, expensive and disheartening. However, I do believe EFT is something we should all have in our ‘tool kit’, practitioner and client alike. It is simple, free and can be used any time anywhere.

It also reminded me, and happens to coincide with the release of Nick Ortner’s new book, “The Tapping Solution for Pain Relief”, which is a guide to using EFT to reduce and eliminate chronic pain. If you’d like to find out more, click on the link below to go to The Tapping Solution’s site:

I have been using EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), sometimes known as ‘Tapping’, in my Practice since 2004. During this time I have witnessed many extraordinary results including, but not limited to, the release of extreme fears, phobias, cravings and pain. I encourage my family, friends, colleagues and clients to learn more about this simple but profound technique to assist themselves, their loved one’s and others in what seems like unlimited, and sometimes miraculous ways.

There are an abundance tutorials, videos and books to choose from to get started. I recommend you start here:
